Towards
the True Kinship of Faiths
H.H. the Dalai Lama
PB AUD35.00
I loved reading this book. I loved
it because I could feel the essence of H.H.
the Dalai Lama in the words. Having read most
of his published work I found the stories in
this book true to his curious nature.
He shares with you his exploration of the major
religions against his own tradition - Buddhism.
I loved the way he found the commonalities and
the verses he chose to demonstrate these.
In some ways it is autobiographical in that
he writes about the years and occasions when
he has been able to sit and talk with leaders
across the globe.
He shares a great deal about the opening heart
with which he and his fellow Tibetans were greeted
in India after his defection from Tibet. You
get a deep sense that he has bonded with India
and its multi secular communities deeply and
has eternal gratitude for the home they have
provided.
Whenever he is offered the opportunity to dialogue
around the topic of interfaith cooperation he
takes it.
He states in his introduction
that the challenge of the 21st century is peaceful
coexistence across all races and cultures and
the lesson he draws is that understanding and
harmony between the world's religions is one
of the essential preconditions for genuine world
peace.
I learnt a great deal about all the major religions
as I read this book and that in itself helped
me open my heart to difference.
